Ames Color-File has the broadest line of custom and stock
filing products in the records management marketplace, designed
to meet the unique needs of our clients. We are the nation’s
largest supplier of records and space management solutions
for the healthcare industry. Our products and services are
also widely used by legal, financial services, government,
and insurance companies. All of Ames Color-File’s offerings,
as well as our manufacturing, design, and distribution resources,
have been created to enable our customers to manage the flow
of information more efficiently.

Who We Are
Ames Color-File
is a division of Ames Safety Envelope, a company with an 85-year
history of providing customers with the innovative, dependable
products they need to work more efficiently, backed by our
long-standing commitment to great service and support.
Innovation
Ames Color-File introduced color-coded filing with the development
and production of the first system in which the ten digits,
0 through 9, correspond to ten colors. This innovative system
provides instant visual identification of misfiles and distribution
of the record pull/re-file workload within a file area. Forty-five
years later, this color-coded filing system enjoys almost
universal acceptance.
Quality
To ensure that the Ames products continue to uphold the same
quality standards established by founder John Fitzgerald in
1919, the Ames Safety Envelope Company owns and operates its
own 350,000 square foot state-of-the-art manufacturing plant.

in the marketplace, all designed to meet the unique needs of our
clients.
Technology: To help maximize space
utilization, as well as reduce storage and retrieval costs, Ames
Color-File has developed many breakthrough software tools for
customers, including: MRVIEW Document Imaging, SmartPurge®, PocketPurge™, SmartTrack™,
SmartLink™, Create-A-File® and Create-A-Label.com.
Presentation Products:
Ames Color-File’s custom manufacturing capabilities include
presentation products such as pocketed folders, special flat or
expanding wallets, and custom mailers.
Professional Services: We also offer
many specialized professional service offerings, including active document imaging, file
conversions, records moves and purging services, space planning,
workflow consulting, and systems consultations, all backed by
our direct national sales force and strong in-house manufacturing
capabilities.
Ames Color-File maintains sales offices in six regions across
the United States and in Canada, as well as distribution centers
in Texas, California, and Massachusetts. Corporate headquarters
and manufacturing facilities are located in Somerville, Massachusetts.
