Using the Microsoft Pocket PC as a mobile, wireless scanning system, PocketPurge combines SmartPurge’s daily/weekly pull list and reconciliation reporting functionality to ensure that all inactive records are accounted for and validated before leaving the healthcare facility. Here’s how PocketPurge works:

1. Use PocketPurge to download the pull/purge list from SmartPurge in TD order.
2. As users scan folders to off-site, SmartPurge immediately lets them know if they scanned incorrect folders by comparing what they scanned to the electronic list on the PocketPurge device.
3. If a folder is not found on the shelf, users can mark the folder as missing by just tapping the “Missing” button on the screen.
4. If a barcode label on a folder cannot be scanned or is not present, the user can tap the “Label” button on the screen and instantly produce a barcode label on a portable, wireless printer or on a stationary networked label printer.
5. Using wireless technology, the PocketPurge device scans are uploaded in real time to SmartPurge or in batch mode by connecting the Pocket Purge device to its cradle attached to the SmartPurge PC.
6. The net result is that all folders are accounted for and validated instantly, giving you 100% accuracy.
